Willis Alan Ramsey, a cult hero youngster, in the early 1970′s at WLYX. Ramsey actually attended Southwestern College (now Rhodes) for a short time. I am not sure if he ever recorded another record after his eponymous 1972 classic.
His songs like The Ballad of Spider John, Muscrat Candlelight, and Satin Sheets have been well covered.
Definitely one of the best records ever made.
