Memphis Ranks 35th in Walkability!

I have posted about Walk Score previously. The Walk Score Site has posted its list of most walkable cities. Of course , cities like San Francisco, New York, and Boston immediately come to mind, so it was a bit of a shock to see Memphis rated #35 among the large cities surveyed. Our ranking was based on the walkability of Downtown, Midtown, and (?) East Memphis-Colonial Acres-Yorkshire.

Walkin’ in Memphis?

Who, besides Marc Cohn, is Walking in Memphis? A while back, when gas was about a buck and a half cheaper a gallon, I posted about Walk Score, a nifty website (their widget can be found on this blog and my other sites) that helps you find a Walkable Neighborhood.
It’s interesting to put in your address and see your walk score.
How are you reacting to gas prices? Consolidating errands, driving more slowly, staying closer to home? I pulled my bike out of the shed, and have been walking some too. It gives you a new perspective on the world, especially if your neighborhood has a high Walk Score.
