Social Networking – 1

Even though I am in the Baby Boomer generation, I try to keep up with current trends. Social networking has been all the buzz for a while now. Every kid who has internet access, and lots of bands and want to be bands, as well as some old codgers like me have pages on MYSPACE.

Here are a couple of sites worth checking out and joining. And it’s FREE:

I lean more toward FACEBOOK than MYSPACE. FACEBOOK is a little more mature in content and look. It was started for college and high school kids, but has been infiltrated with lots of us oldsters. Its a good place to look up your high school or college buddies and network with current friends, business colleagues, post or find information about events, start groups, etc. Be my friend by visiting my profile.

LinkedIn is a more business-oriented site. Not much fun, but a great place for networking with business colleagues, fellow university alumni, clients and potential clients. This is the place to post your resume’ and do some serious networking. Check out my profile and become a contact.

I don’t mean to be insulting with my simplicity here, but I keep running into peers who are not doing the social networking thing. This is the first of a few simple techie posts, so we can get on the same page. In the near future, I will be posting about Twitter, and RSS feeds and readers.
