It seems that with Memphis Public Works changes in trash pickup routes and schedules, we also have a new urban composting initiative.
Here’s how it works:
- Homeowner puts branches and cuttings at the curb.
- City does not pick them up for 12-20 days until leaves fall off
- City crews pick up sticks and branches and leave leaves for urban composting by wind, auto traffic, water and eventual return to nature via the storm sewer system
- Or home owners adding them to their trash containers.
